Direction selects the angle that the sample slice is pointed
in relative to the image center.
It spans a full circle from 0 to 359 degrees where 0 is all
the way to the right and the angle moves counter-clockwise as
the number gets larger.
To illustrate, the following diagrams compare Direction
at 0 and 90 degrees with Split set to 4.
