Fill and Fill Color work together to control what happens in the
outer perimeter area of an auto sized frame.
When Auto Size is selected and the image
size is not an exact multiple of the texture size, the auto sized
frame will be smaller than the image. That leaves an area outside
the frame that isn't filled by the texture.
If Fill is not selected, the area outside the frame is not
modified so the original image shows through and the frame appears
to float above the image. Not that this is a problem, but you will
probably want to crop the image to match the frame size after that.
If Fill is selected, the area outside the frame is flooded with
a single solid color to make it easy to select with the magic wand
tool of your graphics editor. Then if you invert the selection you
can crop the image to reduce the image down to the exact size of the
frame.
Fill Color allows you to select the color for the flood fill so that
you can pick a color that isn't in the texture. That way the magic
wand tool can select only the fill area and not any part of the frame
adjacent to it.
The following example shows an auto sized frame with Fill not selected
and with Fill selected. The Fill Color is the default, black.
