Known Bugs
|
|
This a list of known bugs and issues that still haunt the latest
releases of BorderMania (5.0) and PhotoSwizzle (3.0).
Some of them have been on this list almost forever and are largely
dormant because they can't be fixed. But at least they're listed here so
you know what the story is.
If you discover anything else, let me know by email at the support
email address shown at the bottom of this page.
Also note that the PhotoSwizzle Drop Shadow filter doesn't work with
all of the officially supported graphics editors. See the
compatibility chart for details.
1. Color picker problem in Lab color mode
Filters: all that use the color picker
Graphics Program: Photoshop 3.0
Windows version: 3.1
Description:
The color picker doesn't work properly with Lab color mode. The color
applied by the filter is completely different from the color selected.
2. Photoshop 4.0 crash
Filter: all
Graphics Program: Photoshop 4.0, trial version
Windows version: 3.1
Description:
Photoshop crashes when converting the image to Multichannel mode. This
isn't really a bug in the filters, but is listed here because it prevents
the configuration from being tested, so behavior in Multichannel mode with
Windows 3.1 is unknown.
3. Paint Shop Pro crash in Grayscale mode
Filter: all
Graphics Program: Paint Shop Pro 4, 5, 6
Windows version: 95, 98, ME, NT 4.0, 2000
Description:
Causes PSP to crash when the image is in Grayscale mode. Avoid use of
Grayscale until a solution to the problem is found.
4. PhotoPaint 8, problems in color modes other than RGB
Filter: all
Graphics Program: PhotoPaint 8
Windows version: 95, 98, ME, NT 4.0, 2000
Description:
With transparency unlocked in color modes other than RGB (i.e. Grayscale,
CMYK color, Lab color and Multichannel), the filters don't work properly.
The proxy and preview show only a small corner of the image and the
filter is applied completely out of proportion to the final image. This
unfortunately restricts useful application of the round and ellipse filters
in particular to RGB mode. It's uncertain if this can be fixed because
the image information that PhotoPaint passes to the filters is incorrect
in these circumstances and does not conform to the Adobe plug-in API.
5. Fireworks 3.0 internal error
Filter: all
Graphics Program: Fireworks
Windows version: 95, 98, ME, NT 4.0, 2000
Description:
Filter opens and appears to be working, but when you click OK
the effect is not applied to the original image and a
dialog box appears with the following message:
-
Could not complete your request.
An internal error has occurred.
6. Shadow doesn't show up in proxy sample
Filter: Drop Shadow (PhotoSwizzle)
Graphics Program: PhotoImpact
Windows version: 95, 98, ME, NT 4.0, 2000
Description:
The shadow effect doesn't show up in the proxy sample (the small
sample image within the filter dialog box) but it does work
correctly in the advance preview sample (Preview check box selected).
When the filter dialog is closed the effect is applied correctly to
the original image. So if your original image is large enough and
you can get the filter to let you turn on the big preview window,
do that until the cause of this bug can be determined and fixed.
